At the core of every design we create at Tafein is a piece of Earth, taking from its vibrant cultures, its profound inhabitants, and the sights seen beyond its borders. We want to leave our mark in the world, but only in the hearts of its people, not on its precious land and resources. We are creating heirlooms to pass onto generations, but for a secure future we believe we must take steps to limit the environmental strain we make on the planet.
At Tafein we have made a commitment to ourselves to use recycled metals, responsible materials, and reusable packaging. Working together with RJC certified partners, we utilize sustainable practices in our daily operations. We started the Tafein voyage with a goal to be a sustainable company, keeping the environment and Earth we live in, a place we can continue to see and make art.

FOR ANYONE TO MAKE AN IMPACT
As certified tree huggers, we wanted to give back to the places we found our peace, deep within the woods. We are pleased to partner with One Tree Planted, a non profit environmental organization with a focus on global reforestation. For every design we deliver to you, a tree is planted where it is needed most.
One Tree Planted works on reforestation campaigns in over eighty countries across a multitude of diverse ecosystems. Partnering with local communities and environmental organizations, they are creating a positive impact on the forests, wildlife and people they work with. Their work is not limited to planting trees, but also raising environmental awareness, and monitoring the projects for years to come by collecting impact reports to provide transparency on how you are helping achieve climate change mitigation.
THE SMALLER PICTURE: A TARGETED APPROACH TO GLOBAL REFORESTATION
Hailing from Canada, we are fortunate to have the great wilderness in our backyard, but in recent years the threat of forest fires has substantially increased with over 18 million hectares of land decimated in 2023 alone. Trees benefit us by providing shelter and food for animals, purifying the air we breathe, and balancing the climate. Each project focuses on the regional challenges being presented by deforestation. The tree planting projects we are supporting are all located close to our hearts in North America.
OUR PLANTING PROJECTS:
- Alberta, Canada: The snowy Rocky Mountains are covered with boreal forests, lakes, and rivers. Planting trees in Alberta will help return the area to a spruce dominated mixed wood forest. This project is focusing on increasing soil stability and minimizing erosion by restoring riparian function in the forest. As these trees grow they will provide critical habitats for the diverse wildlife residing under their cover.
- British Columbia, Canada: Home to some of the most beautiful landscapes in Canada, BC is covered with forests, but in recent years pests and disease have destroyed large areas of forests, and these dead trees have become fuel for wildfires. The trees being planted here will help with forest fire restoration, and provide biodiversity and habitat conservation for the abundant wildlife.
- California, USA: The coastal redwoods hide some of the world's tallest trees deep in their forests. In recent years a bark beetle infestation, droughts, and wildfires have damaged the core of these powerful trees. This project is helping restore areas affected by the wildfires. The trees planted will help increase biodiversity, watershed restoration, erosion control, and help with disease recovery.

Our designs draw inspiration from the diverse landscapes of Earth. Each day we work with a mindfulness of the impact we have on our finite natural resources, responsibly making our jewelry while holding our values close to heart. While the jewelry industry is flawed, a shift is in the air, as the industry slowly makes its way to a more sustainable future. Transparency with our trusted partners, who adhere to the Signet Responsible Sourcing protocol, allows us to be confident our materials are from conflict free areas.

We are committed to supplying our materials and gemstones through ethical and sustainable supply chains, working with suppliers who carefully source and hold the same values as we do. We strive to use the highest quality materials to ensure that you can enjoy our jewelry for years to come. This means using precious stones that can take the beating of daily wear, and using precious metals that can hold their value over time. Utilizing small batch production allows us to have a smaller footprint in our production processes with less wastage of materials and resources and better quality control.

ECO FRIENDLY PACKAGING
Our packaging is created from recyclable materials and sourced from local paper companies to help reduce our shipping footprint. The jewelry is provided in reusable pouches, useful for storage, cleaning, and traveling. Our packing partners hold FSC certifications, indicating the products do not contribute to deforestation or damage wildlife habitats.
RESPONSIBLE METAL SOURCING
Each design is formed with a focus on durability and sustainability. We make our designs with recycled silver and gold, doing our part to ensure there is a circle of life for the precious metals. Our processes ensure our gemstones are conflict free and from suppliers with strong records of sustainable sourcing practices, following RJC and SRSP standards.
