The name 'Saturnian Halo' is not merely a moniker but a representation of Saturn's defining feature – its rings. These rings, composed primarily of ice particles with a smaller amount of rocky debris and dust, have been a symbol of celestial beauty and mystery. Saturn is recognized to be the crown of the solar system. With its sapphire centerpiece, the design echoes the icy blues observed on Saturn. The term 'Halo' evokes a sense of divinity, purity, and illumination, much like the ethereal glow of Saturn's rings when they catch the Sun's light. The rings encircle the planet tight, in an embrace echoing the warmth of the sun.
Craftsmanship & Legacy
In designing The Saturnian Halo, our challenge was to integrate Saturn’s rings into the molten frame's foundation without compromising its elegant simplicity. We aspired to achieve a balance where the rings would enhance, and not overpower the design. Drawing inspiration from the icy hues of Saturn’s northern hemisphere, we embedded a striking sapphire that captures the essence of the planet’s heart, while the surrounding grooves quietly narrate the tale of its legendary rings.
An exquisite sapphire, representing the rich blue of Saturn's Northern Hemisphere, is embedded deep within a central groove. This ethereal sapphire is further enhanced by three deep grooves encircling the pendant, a tribute to the planet's famed rings. The sapphire stone has long been associated with the planet Saturn, in some languages it is believed the name translates to “dear to the planet Saturn”. The birthstone of September is thought to increase the power of understanding, patience and courage, bringing its wearer discipline and focus.

Vermeil is the regulated term used to describe gilded silver. It refers to jewelry with a pure sterling silver base covered with a thick layer of solid gold. With a gold plating 5x thicker than average gold plated pieces, gold vermeil is perfect for everyday wear when worn with care.
At Tafein, our pieces are cast with a thick 2.5 micron layer of 18K Gold on 925 Sterling Silver, making it an affordable but durable alternative to solid gold. Featuring a base crafted with a precious metal, the designs are hypoallergenic and nickel-free.
